Overview

This 11-day 10 nights safari highlights the best of western Kenya, starting from Amboseli National Park, passing through Lake Naivasha and Nakuru National Park, visiting Kisumu city and Kakamega Forest, and ending on the sandy beaches of Rusinga Island. The trip concludes with a flight from Kisumu Airport back to Nairobi.

Itinerary

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport, you'll be greeted by our representative who will outline the itinerary. You’ll then drive about four hours to Amboseli National Park, known for its large herds of elephants and views of Mount Kilimanjaro. After lunch at the lodge, you can relax before an evening game drive.

Day 2 :
Amboseli

Begin the day with an early morning game drive, the best time to see animals in action. Key attractions include Mount Kilimanjaro, the observation hill, swamps, and a variety of wildlife including elephants, buffaloes, hippos, and over 400 bird species. After breakfast, visit a local community to experience their culture and dance, followed by an early evening game drive.

After breakfast, enjoy a game drive as you exit Amboseli and head to Lake Naivasha, a six-hour journey. Check in at the lodge and take a boat ride on the lake, known for its birdlife and large hippo population.

In the morning, explore Hell's Gate National Park, known for its dramatic scenery. Then, travel to Lake Nakuru National Park, a haven for rhinos and birds, where you’ll enjoy a game drive and visit key attractions like Makalia waterfalls and the euphorbia forest.

After breakfast, drive to Kisumu, a journey of about four hours through scenic landscapes, including tea plantations in Kericho. Enjoy a city tour of Kisumu, visiting the Impala Sanctuary, Lake Victoria, Hippo Point, and Dunga Beach.

Depart for Kakamega Forest, a 1.5-hour drive from Kisumu, stopping at the West End shopping mall. Visit attractions like the “Crying Stone of Illesi” and local pottery projects. Enjoy guided walks in the forest, known for its rich biodiversity, including numerous bird species and primates.

Spend the day taking nature walks and game drives within the forest, relishing the sounds and sights of the natural habitat.

After breakfast, drive to Mbita and take a causeway to Rusinga Island. Arrive in time for lunch and spend the afternoon at leisure, enjoying the lodge’s amenities.

Enjoy bird watching, lake activities, and exploring the local villages. Options include boat rides and fishing.

After breakfast, return to Mbita by boat and drive to Kisumu. After lunch, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Nairobi.
