14 Days Major Lakes, Fishing and Cultural Safari

Overview

This 14-day, 13-night safari takes you to all the major lakes in Kenya, with the exception of Lake Victoria, all located in the Rift Valley. The journey begins at Lake Magadi, continues to Lake Elementaita, Lake Nakuru, Lake Bogoria, and Lake Baringo, includes a flight to Lake Turkana, and ends with visits to Lake Victoria and Lake Naivasha.

Itinerary

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative and then drive 2.5 hours to Lake Magadi. Activities include bird watching, climbing Mt. Olorgasalie, and visiting Lake Magadi. You will return to Nairobi for dinner and an evening at leisure at your hotel.

After breakfast, depart from Nairobi and head to the Rift Valley, stopping at the Rift Valley viewpoint. Continue to Lake Elementaita, check into your lodge, and explore the area. After lunch, enjoy a game drive at Soy Sambu Conservancy, with activities such as filming, horse riding, motorbike safaris, and visits to local communities. Lake Elementaita is renowned for its birdlife and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. Return to the lodge for dinner and an evening at leisure.

After breakfast, enjoy the scenery at the lodge before departing for Lake Nakuru. Check into the lodge and, after lunch, go on a game drive around the lake, visiting Makalia Falls and various viewpoints. Lake Nakuru is famous for its flamingos and serves as a rhino sanctuary. Return to the lodge for dinner and an evening at leisure.

After breakfast, depart for a three-hour journey to Lake Bogoria National Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch, then walk to the lake to enjoy the scenery and local attractions. Lake Bogoria is a soda lake with high salt and mineral levels, attracting flamingos and featuring hot springs and geysers. Return to the lodge to enjoy the naturally heated swimming pool, dinner, and an evening at leisure.

After breakfast, head to Lake Baringo, visiting local Njemps communities and taking a boat ride for game viewing en route to your camp in the center of the lake. Enjoy lunch and spend the afternoon at leisure. Lake Baringo is a semi-freshwater lake known for its birdlife and photographic opportunities. Return to the camp for dinner and an evening at leisure

Depart the island by boat to meet your driver guides and travel to Eldama Ravine. Check into your hotel, have lunch, and later take a guided walk to visit local communities. Return to the hotel for dinner and an evening at leisure.

After breakfast, drive to Eldoret International Airport for a flight to Lodwar Airstrip in Turkana. Upon arrival, drive to Lobolo Camp on the shores of Lake Turkana. After lunch, enjoy the scenery and an afternoon visit to a Turkana village for a cultural experience. Return to the camp for dinner and an evening at leisure.

After breakfast, take a four-hour boat trip to Sibiloi National Park, visiting Koobi Fora Museum and viewing various fossils. Enjoy the park's wildlife, including zebras, gazelles, lions, and more. Return to the banda for dinner and an evening at leisure.

After breakfast, take a two-hour boat trip to Central Island National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit Flamingo Lake, Crocodile Lake, and Tilapia Lake. Return to Lobolo Camp for dinner and a cultural dance.

After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for a flight back to Eldoret, then drive three hours to Kisumu, home to Lake Victoria. Check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Kisumu, formerly Port Florence, became a city in 2001 and a UN Millennium City in 2006. Return to the hotel for dinner and an evening at leisure.

Enjoy breakfast and a full-day city tour of Kisumu, including the Impala Sanctuary, Lake Victoria, Hippo Point, and Dunga Beach. Experience Luo culture with songs and dances. Return to the hotel for dinner and an evening at leisure.

Spend the day at leisure, either at the hotel or exploring Kisumu. Optionally, take a boat safari for fishing on Lake Victoria. Return to the hotel for dinner and an evening at leisure.

Depart with a packed lunch for a five-hour journey to Lake Naivasha, the final stop before returning to Nairobi. Check into your rooms and enjoy the scenery or take a boat ride on the lake. Return to the lodge for dinner and an evening at leisure.

After breakfast, depart for Nairobi. Transfer to the airport for your flight home, marking the end of your safari.
