Itinerary
4-Hour Drive
Meals: Lunch & Lunch
7:30 am. Your Africa Kenya Safaris driver/guide will pick you up for the easy drive to the park. We’ll take the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway, and you just might spot some Maasai herders with their flocks in the nearby fields.
As we approach the park, you’ll see the rising spire of Mt. Kilimanjaro in the distance, guiding our way to Amboseli. We should arrive late morning and you’ll settle in for lunch at your safari lodge or tented camp.
Then it’s safari time! We’ll jump into our 4 x 4 Jeep for the first of our game drives, exploring for lion, leopard, cheetah, and a host of other wildlife.
You won’t have to look far to spot the park’s many herds of strolling elephants. And throughout your safari, you’ll see the imposing form of Kilimanjaro almost standing guard over the park.
As we get toward evening, the cloud cover near the mountain’s snow-covered peak may part, revealing one of Africa’s greatest treasures.
We’ll head back to our accommodation for a relaxing dinner and share stories of our first safari day.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Here’s the thing about safaris – we don’t sleep in. We’re up with the sun and the wildlife to appreciate the new day. Our first game drive may even reward us with views of Kilimanjaro’s summit.
We’ll head back to our lodge or tented camp for breakfast to fuel us for the next game drive. Besides the larger wildlife, Amboseli will treat us to sightings of many smaller species like hyena, fox, jackal, monkey, and baboon.
As we rumble through the park, you’ll see a pyramid-shaped form rising from the plains. This is Observation Hill, an excellent spot to take a break and appreciate views all around the park, its plains, marshes, lakes, and of course, Kilimanjaro.
Besides the four-legged wildlife, Amboseli also sports plenty of colorful winged creatures like pelican, kingfisher, egret, and Egyptian goose – additional eager subjects for your camera.
If you choose to, we can take an optional visit to the nearby Maasai village for an interaction with these indigenous people of the land. Get to meet the families and learn about their lifestyle and customs.
Approx. 4.5 hours by train
Meals: Breakfast & Lunch
Our third day on safari – we’ll enjoy breakfast and then pile into the Jeep for our last game drive as we exit the park (Depending on lodge/ camp location). Enjoy views of Kilimanjaro as we head to the train station at Emali. But not to worry, your train trip will take you through the great plains of Tsavo West and Tsavo East Parks with the possibility of viewing more wildlife.
At the train station, your guide will assist with your ticketing, ensuring you’re comfortably aboard. Settle into your air-conditioned first-class seat as you watch the parks fly by. In just a few hours you’ll arrive in Mombasa. This high-speed train is built for air-conditioned comfort with soft reclining seats. Your large picture windows will provide colorful vistas of the parks and their wildlife.
Should you be hungry or want to stretch your legs, visit the buffet car for drinks and snacks. You’ll soon arrive at the modern train station in Mombasa.
From Nairobi to the coast, we made stops for elephants, lions, Mt. Kilimanjaro and so much more! We hope you had fun and enjoyed your discoveries on this three-day safari adventure.
