Itinerary
5-6 Hour Drive
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
7:30 am. Your driver/guide will pick you up at your hotel, the airport, or the location of your choice. Board your private 4 x 4 Safari Jeep and we’ll head off to the Masai Mara Reserve.
Our route will take us through the Great Rift Valley, complete with dramatic views of the escarpment as we pass local farmlands and communities. We’ll make rest stops along the way and as we proceed to the park, we’ll head down to the Rift Valley floor, entering Masai country.
You may see the local herdsmen tending their flocks just as they have done for hundreds of years.
We’ll arrive at the park and take a break to refresh and enjoy lunch before setting off for our first game drive.
Heading over the great savannahs of the park, you’ll witness its vast stretches of grasslands, home to the greatest concentration of wildlife in the region.
Over the course of your 4-day safari, your driver/guide will share his extensive knowledge of the park and its animals. If you have any requests, please let him know and he’ll be happy to oblige.
As evening floats in you’ll head to your safari lodge or tented camp to relax and enjoy dinner.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
This will be a day of unlimited game drives, starting early so we can catch the wildlife as it steps into the morning light. This is a quiet, cool, and peaceful time to watch the animals’ first stirrings.
The Masa Mara is famous for its diversity and numbers of big cats, elephants, buffalos, giraffes, and other large game.
During the season of the Great Migration (July – October) prepare to witness the largest display of herding animals on the planet. You’ll see thousands of wildebeests crossing into the park over the Mara River in an endless flow.
The river is also home to hippos and crocodiles, adding to the splendor and variety of wildlife filling the scene here.
We offer an optional visit to the local Maasai village, should you want to enjoy another aspect of this exceptional reserve. You’ll get to meet the people and learn about their culture, firsthand. Your guide will be happy to arrange the visit for a small fee.
We’ll spend our second evening at your accommodation of choice.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Perhaps the best aspect of this 4-day safari is time – you will have time to take as many game drives as you desire. You may want to revisit a favorite location in the park, perhaps a lookout point or special spot down at the river.
But you’ll also have time to relax. If you so choose, enjoy the facilities of your safari lodge or tented camp. Or go for a guided walk. It’s your safari so you get to choose how you will spend your day. Just let your driver/guide know your wishes and he’ll be happy to help.
You can also start this day with an extraordinary optional event – an early morning hot air balloon safari over the park. There’s no experience quite like seeing the sunrise over the Mara, its light illuminating the hills and herding wildlife below. Your driver/guide can make all the arrangements.
5-6 Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast & Lunch
It’s our last day on safari so let’s get up for an early game drive and add to our list of sightings.
Besides the big game, don’t forget the park hosts an astonishing array of smaller wildlife like hyena, jackal, fox, topi, eland, and plenty more.
We’ll enjoy breakfast at our accommodation and then jump into the 4 x 4 for a final game drive through the park.
Heading back to Nairobi, there will be time to enjoy the vistas along the route, and we’ll stop for lunch to soak up the scenery.
We should be back in town toward the late afternoon and will bring you to your hotel or the site of your choosing.
